TBA Recreational Program

The Tigard Basketball Association recreational program is a league for boys and girls in grades 3 through 12 where we pride ourselves on teaching the game, having fun, and focusing on the kids. Our goal is to develop fundamental basketball skills, sportsmanship, and self esteem through our efforts. It is our hope that each player becomes progressively more competent, building their skill and confidence in a fun environment as they advance through the program grade levels. TBA programs are open to all youth located within the City of Tigard and/or the Tigard-Tualatin School District boundary.  Use Boundary Check to see if you are within our service area.

Program Specifics

TBA offers programs for both boys and girls from 3rd grade through high school. Boys 3rd to 8th grade have separate divisions for each grade. High school boys have dual grade divisions. Girls 3rd to 8th grade have dual grade divisions. High school girls have a combined 4 grade division. Players are required to play in their grade division.

Practices: Teams practice two evenings a week either Mon/Wed or Tue/Th. Practices are held at various Tigard elementary and middle school locations. Practices begin early November and continue through the final game.

Games: There is one game per week. Grades 3 to 8 play games on Saturday.  High school games are played on Friday evenings and Saturdays. Teams play 10 games beginning in January and ending early March.

Tryouts: TBA conducts pre-season no-cut tryouts.* All players who register are placed on teams provided space and coaches are available. Tryouts are an opportunity for coaches to evaluate players before the draft. Attendance at tryouts is not required. Players will be place on teams regardless of participation. 

Team Placement: All programs create teams by draft. Coaches select their players by drafting from the available player pool. Players not attending tryouts are "hat picks", i.e. random draws. As players are selected by draft, requests for placement on a specific team or coach are not accepted.

Scholarships: A limited number of partial or full need based scholarships are available. These are offered on a first come first serve basis. Please contact scholarships@tigardbasketball.org for scholarship consideration.
